“Food” and “climate” are closely intertwined, and one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions come from the food system! Food Made Good HK, which has always been committed to promoting sustainable food, recently announced a “Carbon Label Pilot Program” in collaboration with Henderson Land Development Group, set to launch in March.
The “Tang Shu” and “JAJA” under the Mira Dining Group, as well as the group’s dining tenants “Moon Mountain,” “Tell Camellia,” “TREEHOUSE,” and “Wu Lao Guo (Hong Kong),” have taken the lead in the project, bringing low-carbon dishes of different cooking styles such as Chinese cuisine, vegetarian food, and Japanese cuisine. In addition to being able to taste sustainable dishes, there are also low-carbon cocktails inspired by tea at the bar Tell Camellia.
In addition, the menus of the six restaurants also provide carbon label icons, indicating low, medium, and high levels, allowing everyone to understand the environmental impact of each dish and make more environmentally friendly choices when selecting food. After the launch of the program, the restaurants will collect data during the baseline month and the following month to analyze how the carbon labels affect diners’ choices and the extent to which food carbon emissions are reduced.
