The new store, Goose’ Chocolate, located on Tai Ping Shan Street, was formerly a coffee shop called Half & Half in Sai Ying Pun. After the closure of the old store, the owner found a new location on Tai Ping Shan Street, which is more convenient. The popular chocolate elements from the old store have now become the focus.
The store is aptly named Chocolate and called Goose because of the cute goose toy, also taking a pun on “good,” symbolizing the intention to create high-quality chocolate.
The new store is mainly decorated in a retro green tone, adorned with antique lamps, hanging curtains, wooden cabinets, leather chairs, and a large number of interesting and cute goose and cat decorations. The presence of the cat store owner adds to the joy in every corner.
In terms of beverages, there is coffee, but chocolate is the highlight. The signature Goose’s Chocolate ($65) is made with Tanzania 73% cocoa, with flavors of cherries and roasted almonds, a slight acidity of berries, and a moderate amount of milk added for cooking. It is then sprinkled with cocoa nibs, creamy in texture but not too heavy.
Another must-try recommendation is the Chili & Pepper Chocolate ($75), which is thicker and more intense than the original chocolate drink, with the addition of crushed black pepper to bring out a spicy layer. It’s a memorable experience. Other drinks include cocoa lemonade, chocolate banana smoothie, and regular coffee.
Don’t miss out on the Chocolate Pudding ($58) in the dessert category, which transforms the Japanese-style egg pudding into a chocolate flavor. Its smoothness gives a melting sensation upon tasting, accompanied by cream and caramel sauce, blending various flavors and textures into one.
There is a Goose’s Breakfast ($128) with herb focaccia bread, ham, soft-boiled egg, fruit yogurt, salad, and a cup of hot chocolate. It is a very rich all-day breakfast.
