Causeway Bay Flame-themed BBQ! Colorful mist fireworks add visual effects / Taste Iwate Prefecture whiskey and wagyu beef.

by

The newest opening in Causeway Bay, the “焰” Japanese BBQ restaurant, specializes in table-side BBQ where guests don’t have to cook themselves. The chef will grill each dish in front of you. The restaurant features a flamboyant theme with a fully open bar counter design. The bar counter is equipped with a special mist fire device, which is extremely eye-catching. It creates the illusion of a roaring fire, even before you start eating, the atmosphere is already lively!

This exciting smoke device can also change colors. The staff will change the lighting when serving different dishes. Just bringing this along for taking photos is enough to get a lot of likes and make a strong impression.

Speaking of food, the restaurant offers set lunch starting from $380 and set dinner starting from $780. There are two options for the set menu. Even for the highest-priced dinner Set B, the cost performance is very high. It includes 13 dishes that are very rich, including appetizers, sashimi, abalone jelly cake, and foie gras chawanmushi.

Of course, the highlight of the barbecue is the meat, and we use black-haired wagyu beef from Iwate Prefecture. The northeastern part of Japan is known for its whisky production, and local ranches mix whisky residue and starch into the feed, giving it the name “whisky beef”. The wagyu beef has a particularly rich and flavorful fatty taste when eaten.

The first charcoal-grilled beef tongue is full of surprises. After lightly searing the surface of the beef tongue, charcoal is placed on top and covered with a glass lid. The beef tongue is smooth and the flavors of oil and charcoal intertwine with each other.

Other barbecue dishes are also excellent, such as the double-grilled beef rolls with perilla, sukiyaki sauce, and thinly grilled beef eye. For friends who love garlic, they should be very happy to see the charcoal-grilled wagyu beef cubes, which are served with grilled whole garlic cloves, fried garlic slices, and Japanese salted egg yolk. Delicious!

After grilling the meat, you can have it with rice or noodles. Choose between the Gillette and Wagyu beef rice burger or the plum cold soba noodles. Personally, I would choose the former, using Japanese Dream Beauty rice, with tempura crumbs, onions, Wagyu beef, and Japanese egg yolk. After eating, you will feel satisfied. Finally, enjoy a dessert to complete the meal, making it both enjoyable and fulfilling!
