Many people have the habit of drinking a cup of coffee in the morning for its refreshing effect, and many people will drink two or more cups of coffee a day. Although coffee can provide us with plenty of energy, relying too much on coffee can lead to excessive calorie intake and unknowingly cause weight gain. This time, we have invited accredited nutritionist Hu Jiaqi to debunk three common myths about coffee. Among the five common types of coffee, which one has the highest calorie content?
//Can you drink coffee on an empty stomach?//
Most people are accustomed to drinking coffee on an empty stomach as soon as they wake up. Research has shown that the bitterness of coffee may stimulate the production of stomach acid, leading to discomfort, acid reflux, and indigestion. Therefore, it is best to avoid drinking coffee on an empty stomach. Additionally, drinking coffee on an empty stomach may increase cortisol levels. If the body secretes excessive cortisol over a long period of time, it can affect metabolism, blood pressure, and blood sugar regulation.
//How many cups of coffee can you drink in a day?//
According to the guidelines of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it is recommended that healthy adults consume 400 milligrams of caffeine per day. Assuming you drink two cups of American coffee daily, you may be consuming too much caffeine, which could lead to symptoms such as hand tremors, dizziness, headaches, and increased heart rate, so it is important to be mindful of your intake.

//Does drinking coffee before exercise help with fat burning?//
Many female friends have the habit of drinking coffee before exercising, thinking that it can increase metabolism and accelerate weight loss. In fact, coffee contains caffeine, which is a stimulant that can enhance brain function and promote metabolism, but there is currently no research to prove its fat-burning effect. Moreover, each type of coffee contains different calories, so if you accidentally choose a high-calorie coffee, you may end up gaining weight instead of losing it.
Among the 5 coffee options, Mocha has the highest calorie content, containing 576 calories, which is roughly equivalent to 2 pieces of fried chicken thighs with skin, the calorie content is quite astonishing.
