Blossom, a coffee shop that opened in Sai Ying Pun in 2017, recently underwent renovations and is now showcasing a new look this week! The coffee bar has been replaced with ebony wood, Japanese-style curtains have been hung, coffee-colored sofas have been added, and the high tables and chairs along the walls have been changed to match the Japanese and wooden styles, departing from the previous simple design of the old shop. Now, it is more in line with the styles of the Kowloon City and Wan Chai stores!
The menu also undergoes a major renovation, with Hokkaido pancakes as the main highlight, creating a variety of savory and sweet options. The pancake mix used is discovered by the owner during a trip to Japan, and therefore, in collaboration with the supplier, it is exclusively introduced to Hong Kong, creating a series of thick and sweet Japanese-style pancakes ($78-$128). The original pancakes are paired with ingredients such as purple sweet potato, chestnut, and Uji matcha flavor, while there are also pancakes mixed with black tea, which can be paired with caramel white peach or amber walnut flavors.
What makes it even more special is that the pancake is made into a savory dish. The Carbonara Pancake ($128) is topped with creamy carbonara sauce and bacon bits, and comes with a raw egg yolk for customers to pour over the pancake themselves. It is served with roasted pumpkin and salad, and the portion is similar to a regular savory main course. Other savory pancake options include Smoked Salmon Avocado Pancake, Eggs Benedict Pancake, and Bacon and Scrambled Egg Pancake.
In addition to coffee, a variety of teas are specially added to the beverage selection, including 8-year-aged white tea, which has a mild aroma and a smooth taste, making it a comforting choice apart from coffee.
