In the heart of Causeway Bay’s food street, there is a newly opened Omakase restaurant called “Sushi Sei X Tai Hu”. Located on a prominent street corner, the copper-colored walls and wooden doors make for an eye-catching storefront. Inside the restaurant, there is a long sushi counter with only 14 seats. The soft lighting and simple light wood tables create a tranquil and elegant atmosphere with a touch of Japanese style.
The restaurant offers different prices for Omakase, with the cheapest starting at just $198, which includes a selection of seaweed appetizers and eight pieces of grilled sushi. There are also Omakase options priced at $298, $398, and $498, with the most expensive being $498. Compared to other Japanese restaurants in the area, the prices are much more affordable.
The $498 set menu includes a variety of unique dishes, prepared by the chef with fresh seafood, including several exquisite appetizers, smoked and boiled abalone, and crispy grilled sea bream. The three types of sashimi include raw shrimp, big tiger prawns, and Dutch shrimp, depending on the freshness of the day’s supply. The Hokkaido oysters are seasoned with citrus gel and yuzu peel, giving them a refreshing taste.
Next, there are eight hand-held sushi options, among which the most unique creation is the Snowflake Foie Gras and Tuna Sushi. The foie gras is slow-cooked in red wine for 3 hours, then chilled to a firm texture at -70 degrees Celsius, and finally shaved onto the raw tuna sushi. The delicate and creamy foie gras melts in your mouth and covers the tuna, creating a rich and flavorful experience. Other sushi options include sweet shrimp, deep-sea pond fish, and bluefin tuna belly. All of them are made with the “Love at First Sight Rice” from Miyagi Prefecture and seasoned with our own red vinegar formula, resulting in a fresh and aromatic taste in every bite.
Sake is also a major element of this restaurant, with a selection of over 350 years of history from the Daichi Sake Brewery. Its products have consistently received the highest honor, the Platinum Award, at the London Sake Competition for many years. Customers who choose the Omakase menu can enjoy it with either $198 or $298, along with 4 to 6 dishes paired with Daichi Sake. Whether you choose to add sake or not, the Omakase here offers excellent value for money.
