Recommended by the “Tokyo Michelin Guide” and ranked 16th globally and the best in Japan, “The Pizza Bar on 38th” is hosting a limited-time restaurant at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong from today until February 26th.
The hotel’s private dining room has been redesigned to resemble our bar counter and pizza oven. The executive chef, Daniele Cason, and his team have come to Hong Kong to personally make pizza in the restaurant every day.
What makes this pizza shop so special? The ingredients and recipes are of course exquisite. We insist on using organic Italian flour and fermenting the dough for 48 hours with a ratio of 1 gram of yeast to 80% water. The crust is baked to be crispy and dry, yet with a chewy texture, and the edges are light and crispy.
As for the taste of Pizza, in addition to authentic Italian ingredients, it is also paired with a variety of high-quality Japanese ingredients, such as fresh mountain vegetables from Hokkaido, king crab and sea urchin, and strawberries from Ehime Prefecture, to create savory or sweet pizzas.
Another popular style in the Japanese store is the Pizzino, which is like a sandwich. It is made by spreading different types of cheese and black olives on two large thin pizza crusts, then sandwiching them together after they have been baked until the cheese melts. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and bake again, then add scallions and black truffle. The melted cheese and crispy texture of the crust create a rich aroma.
Dear Pizza lovers, are you eager to try this? Although the Hong Kong pop-up store just officially opened today, it is already fully booked. If you want to try it, you’ll have to book at the original store in Tokyo. The store is located inside the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo Hotel and has very limited seating, so make sure to make your reservation early!
