High-quality Omakase sushi restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui! Authentic Japanese chefs/ A must-try sea urchin dish for birthdays.

by

An authentic Omakase dinner may come at a high price, but when it comes to food, choosing the best is a must. We recommend Sushi Iwa Tai, located in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui. It is led by Chef Iwa Tai, a Michelin-starred chef from Ginza Iwa in Tokyo, and his apprentice, Chef Kaneko Tsukasa. They only recently opened in Hong Kong last autumn, with a simple and elegant decor, allowing diners to see the chefs at work clearly.

The evening chef’s menu starts from HK$1,780+ and includes 19 dishes. For birthdays or anniversaries, you can opt for the more luxurious HK$2,680+ set menu with 25 dishes. Inform the restaurant in advance when making a reservation for a birthday celebration, and the restaurant will prepare a menu with the guest of honor’s name!

Among the 10 pieces of sushi, the sea urchin sushi is transformed into a “sea urchin mountain” by the master without hesitation, topped with precious fish roe, definitely a must-try! The ingredients used in the restaurant are of course the most seasonal, with fresh purple sea urchin paired with sweet white shrimp for sashimi, smooth and sweet, melting in your mouth, while another type has a tender and smooth texture with sour sauce.

For starters, there is a braised cuttlefish with stuffed squid tentacles and fish maw, rich in flavor. A must-try is the smooth and creamy monkfish liver, reminiscent of ice cream. Additionally, the Hokkaido scallop is also quite unforgettable, especially when paired with abalone liver sauce and sushi rice.

The sushi here is also excellent, with sushi rice seasoned with red vinegar that is tangy and appetizing. The chef’s skills are top-notch, with perfect rice molding and a deft touch. Enjoying a variety of fish such as left-mouth fish, hand-caught pond fish, soy sauce-marinated akami, big toro, chum salmon, scallops, tiger prawns, red snapper, sea urchin, and eel leaves you feeling satisfied!

Finally, ending with tamagoyaki and seasonal fruits, the whole meal is full of surprises! The chef’s set menu is indeed not cheap, but it’s also worth indulging yourself occasionally!
