Izakaya Kengachi can be described as a top-notch establishment, with prime ministers and dignitaries among its guests. Kengachi has been in Hong Kong for exactly ten years, opening its flagship store at 1 Beijing Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. The store features three glass windows that offer a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour, and the interior design incorporates traditional izakaya elements, with a dominant red color scheme and the playing of traditional Japanese music, creating a lively atmosphere.
The menu at Quan Ba is very diverse, offering a variety of options including izakaya-style snacks, yakitori, sashimi, sushi, rolls, simmered dishes, tempura, and daily handcrafted soba noodles. The new store has a special private dining area with only 12 seats, where the sushi chef prepares daily seasonal seafood directly imported from Japan, as well as specialties like seared fatty tuna sushi and monkfish liver sushi. Currently, it is the season for shirako, which can be made into tempura, served with a vinegar sauce, or grilled to perfection, resulting in a rich and creamy texture.
Other recommended dishes include the beef tendon with Japanese-style sour sauce using the recipe from the main store in Japan, chicken meatballs stuffed with local shiitake mushrooms and chicken leg meat, and tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) with mentaiko (spicy cod roe) made with Miyazaki eggs.
Must-try dessert: Tokachi red bean green tea ice cream with mochi. Our homemade ice cream is made with fragrant green tea from Ruozhu.
During the grand opening period, the restaurant offers various promotions, including The Happiest Hour, where you can enjoy buy one get one free offers on selected Japanese cocktails during specified afternoon and evening hours. Additionally, from now until February 28th, each pair of guests can choose one of the designated dishes at half price, including A5 Wagyu sirloin, peony shrimp sashimi, and a selection of grilled skewers.
