A new ramen shop “Haoyue” was discovered in Tai Po, hidden in a small alley on Kwong Fuk Road. Even before opening, there was already a long line, all because the shop offers a “limited edition lobster ramen” (HK$198) on weekends and holidays!
“The limited edition lobster ramen is made with locally sourced green lobsters, handpicked by the ramen master at the market on the same day. Limited to only 8 to 10 servings per day, it is quite exclusive! Unlike the common Boston lobster, green lobsters do not have claws, but instead have long antennae. The lobster meat is fresh, sweet, and firm, providing a unique dining experience.”
Ramen noodles can be chosen with chewy thick noodles or smooth thin noodles, from the Japanese-owned Nanten Noodle Factory. Other ramen ingredients are also meticulously selected, with char siu made from American black pork, using only the most tender parts, and the soft-boiled egg cooked to perfection, even with a cartoon appearance. The broth is a rich pork bone soup, enhanced with sautéed sakura shrimp, making the soup even more rich, savory, and flavorful.
Other ramen options include “Sapporo Miso Ramen” (HK$79), “Asahikawa Soy Sauce Ramen” (HK$79), “Hakodate Thick Salt Ramen” (HK$89), all of which are Hokkaido-style.
There are many types of snacks, such as “takoyaki” (HK$22) and “karaage fried chicken” (HK$32). The quality of the small shop is quite good, coupled with reasonable prices, residents of Tai Po are in for a treat!
