The newly opened Calle Ocho in Causeway Bay Food Street is a two-story building with blue and white tiled exterior walls and hand-painted murals showcasing the Spanish style, which is very eye-catching!
The interior is located on two floors and is decorated with traditional musical instruments, flamenco-style paintings, family photos, and vintage posters. During the day, you can enjoy a view of abundant trees outside the window and plenty of sunlight. At night, there is a relaxed and lively atmosphere like a tavern.
The menu is mainly focused on tapas, starting at $45, and you can choose from a variety of small dishes. The portion size of the snacks allows you to order several to pair with your drinks. The authentic “Spanish fried meatballs” ($55 and up/2 pieces) are filled with Spanish ham, mushrooms, shrimp, and other ingredients. There is also a selection of high-quality ingredients, making it suitable for both indulgence and frugality. For example, the “grilled squid” ($160) features large and tender squid that is freshly flown in from Spain.
“Slow-cooked beef cheek with pumpkin coconut puree” ($160) The beef is tender, juicy, and a must-try main course. For those who want a generous portion, the Spanish baked rice is the perfect choice. One of the signature flavors is the “Traditional ink-spiced spicy squid baked rice” ($280), which is full of seafood goodness.
The one thing you can’t miss is “Candela’s Manchego Cheesecake”, made with sheep’s milk using authentic methods, it has a true savory cheese flavor that is incomparable to regular cream cheese, and when paired with passion fruit sauce, it creates a perfectly balanced sweet and sour taste.
Choose a bottle of Spanish Sangria for two people, either red or white wine, to make this meal more atmospheric.
