Formerly the Tai Po Art Center of Tai Po Government Secondary School, it mainly hosts various creative art activities. The newly opened restaurant Pentola, specializing in handmade pasta and cocktails, will officially open on the 15th. Tai Po foodies who want to enjoy high-quality Western cuisine will be in for a treat!

Since the art center used to be a secondary school, friends who have never been here may be a bit confused. The different units used to be classrooms, and the familiar corridors are quite welcoming. As long as you find an object that looks like a photo booth, pulling back the curtain reveals the main restaurant.

The restaurant uses red bricks as the main design element, paired with eye-catching mustard yellow seats, creating a spacious and wide-open feeling. The food focuses on handmade pasta, using a combination of Italian flour and flour from a local Kowloon noodle factory to create a dough that results in pasta with a chewy and satisfying texture.

Lobster lovers must try the fresh Boston lobster pasta for $228, with half a lobster served on a large plate of pasta, cooked in a sauce made with cherry tomatoes and basil that is refreshing and appetizing. Another popular dish is the Earl Grey tea and pepper slow-cooked beef cheeks with wide noodles for $188, where the handmade wide noodles have a satisfying bite, sprinkled with red peppercorns, and a hint of tea fragrance in every bite.

Recommended snack: Crispy fried calamari rings with tartar sauce for $88, the calamari rings are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with appetizing tartar sauce, making it irresistible. Additionally, the menu features several options of mussels starting from $118, where you can choose basil tomato sauce, lemon butter sauce, or coconut chili sauce, the mussels are cooked to perfection, all served with sourdough toast.

Another highlight of the restaurant is the creative cocktails, where you can order a visually appealing and delicious Lemon Meringue Pie cocktail. The lemon flavor is refreshing, and the top layer is lightly torched meringue. In addition to cocktails, coffee is also available.

In Tai Po, there has always been a lack of refined Western cuisine. It’s rare to see a new restaurant opening, especially one that serves alcohol. For those in Tai Po who want to eat well without traveling far, now there are more good options available!
