Recently discovered in Central a sushi restaurant that offers great value for money, hidden in the tin shed dai pai dong on Stanley Street called “Sushi Matsuri”! Every evening there is an all-you-can-eat sushi option, with two prices of HK$499+ and HK$659+, the latter includes unlimited sea urchin, toro, and salmon roe sushi!
All-you-can-eat for 90 minutes, the dishes are served quickly, and the sushi is made by the chef as you order. Each guest will start with an 8-piece sushi set, including sea urchin, scallop, salmon roe, eel, yellowtail, pond fish, etc., with the eel being particularly fragrant after being grilled.
In terms of all-you-can-eat sushi, there are many sushi styles that are not included in other set menus, including scallops, seared salmon, green onion tuna belly, sweet shrimp, as well as some small rolls and hand rolls.
Apart from sushi, the all-you-can-eat menu includes sashimi, tempura, and Japanese snacks. Tempura is highly recommended, with high quality and each serving includes fried shrimp, sweet potato, pumpkin, and crab stick. The tempura is crispy and dry, and there are also fried oysters, fried chicken, crab salad, chawanmushi, miso soup, and more.
Basically, eating two or three rounds of sushi is already quite filling, but to “break even,” you should focus on sea urchin and toro! There are two desserts, including a cheesecake and matcha bracken cake, both taste good.
