“The Little Prince” 75th Anniversary Exhibition “One must look with the heart”! 8 artists recreate the classic French fairy tale.

The French classic “The Little Prince,” translated into multiple languages, remains a favorite bedtime story for many despite being published for many years. The touching story of the Little Prince, the Fox, and the Rose has healed countless nights. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the French version of “The Little Prince,” and ARTboratory has been officially authorized by France to present the “One must look with the heart” art exhibition, collaborating with 8 renowned artists to bring to life classic scenes.

The Little Prince “One must look with the heart” art exhibition is held in a renovated Grade II historic building on Morrison Street in Wan Chai. In a nostalgic atmosphere, works by artists such as Shita Gen, Ueno Yosuke, Minamoto Minamoto, Dave White, Joey Leung, etc. are exhibited. They depict classic scenes from “The Little Prince” in their own unique artistic styles, leading everyone to visit the B612 planet together.

Japanese artist Shimoda Hikari painted “The Little Prince (Pain of Love and Loneliness)” with brilliant colors, and the little prince in the painting is depicted with the artist’s iconic brushstrokes, similar to the child characters she has painted in the past. She focuses on the eyes of the characters. The little prince’s large round eyes shine with rich and dazzling colors and star patterns, yet they also glisten with tears, revealing a sense of loneliness.

Artist Yosuke Ueno from Japan brings his work “You are my friend” to this exhibition, depicting the friendship between the Little Prince and the Fox. Whether it’s the colorful hair of the Little Prince or the boundless mysterious starry sky, rich color layers are presented, and the atmosphere also reveals a sense of romanticism that is both modern and surreal.

In addition, Gen Yamamoto’s “Don’t mind waiting for you” depicts a rose on the planet B612, rendering a lonely atmosphere in different shades of blue.

Upon seeing Joey Leung’s work “The Gluttonous Snake,” I believe those familiar with The Little Prince will immediately recall the classic scene at the beginning of the story: is the child’s drawing really a hat, or a snake that has eaten an elephant? The artwork humorously adds the phrase “greedily swallowing an elephant/ body shape immediately changes/ slim waist disappears, belly bulges/ quickly eating fruits for better digestion,” inviting everyone to ponder over it carefully.

In addition to multiple art pieces, the exhibition also hides classic quotes from “The Little Prince” in various corners. You may want to carefully explore them. Furthermore, the exhibition also offers limited edition merchandise of the Little Prince. There are still a few days left in the exhibition, so remember to seize the opportunity to go and enjoy it.
