Last night, Valentino held its 2022 haute couture collection presentation at the brand’s Paris fashion house headquarters, models descended from a spiral staircase, and 63 haute couture collection styles slowly entered everyone’s sight.
This series, named “Anatomy of Couture,” brings us a visual feast of redefining beauty by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. The brand, known for its fairy-tale gowns, takes a different approach this season. Valentino no longer defines beauty in a singular way, but instead returns couture to the essence of beauty. Compared to past seasons, there is less of the extravagant and dramatic silhouettes, opting instead for simplicity to highlight the essence of the human form, returning to the natural beauty of life.
So on the runway, we can see models of different ages, skin colors, professions, and body types, in addition to our familiar veteran supermodels like Kristen McMenamy, Mariacarla Boscono, Lara Stone, and male model Jon Kortajarena, we can also see those chubby girls who never seem to belong on the haute couture runway… each of them showcasing the charm of women and high fashion.
Pierpaolo Piccioli’s fascination with color is one of Valentino’s signature styles, extending from artistic color matching to fabrics and designs, bringing collisions to haute couture styling. Bright red, orange, green, blue, purple… deep and light contrasts, combined with a large amount of wrinkling craftsmanship and layered designs in clothing, are all gorgeous presences that cannot be ignored.
The color matching this time is definitely one of the highlights, with gold earrings and necklaces that have a sense of line on simple designed clothing, playing a finishing touch role, making the overall look more elegant.
Beauty has no single standard, because only you can define yourself, this is what Pierpaolo Piccioli wants to tell us through this series.
