Fashion brand collaborations are not uncommon, with more and more cross-border partnerships emerging. Among them, collaborations with the world of comics are also not new. For example, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Sailor Moon,” a limited edition crystal long boots were created in collaboration with Jimmy Choo. JW Anderson also recently launched a collaboration series with the classic Korean comic “Run Hany.” And recently, Burberry announced a collaboration with Japanese manga artist Fly Yamaguchi to create a brand new story for his popular work “Blue Period.”
This collaboration turns Burberry’s iconic Lola bag into part of a manga, making it the protagonist of the story. The main characters in the manga, Yaguchi Hachiro and Ayukawa Ryuji, also wear Burberry’s iconic pieces, including trench coats and checkered shirts, which are very eye-catching. The Burberry x “Blue Period” collaboration manga will be available for pick-up at Japanese Burberry stores starting August 20, and the digital version will be released on the Burberry official website.
