W&W Yesterday officially kicked off! Bvlgari, exhibiting for the first time this year, surprised everyone with the Octo Finissimo perpetual calendar watch, which is only 5.8mm thick. Following the ultra-thin automatic winding watch, minute repeater watch, chronograph watch, and tourbillon watch, BVLGARI has introduced the thinnest watch ever.
The brand uses the results of Italian mechanical aesthetics (L’Estetica della Meccanica) to reinterpret the watch from the inside out. The watch uses more than 408 parts, housed in a case only 5.80 mm thick. The movement is only 2.75 mm thick, utilizing the space between movement parts to achieve such a thin effect without reducing the size of the parts, showcasing watchmaking craftsmanship.
Even with an ultra-thin movement, it combines the driving hour hand, minute hand, and all perpetual calendar functions: retrograde date, day of the week and month display, as well as retrograde leap year display. Styles also include titanium and platinum versions to suit different outfits.
Another highlight is the limited edition ultra-thin black ceramic watch BVLGARI Octo Finissimo Tadao Ando, created in collaboration with Japanese architectural master Tadao Ando. The minimalist design aligns with Tadao Ando’s design style and incorporates his beloved theme of “time,” blending in elements of the crescent moon (Mikazuki) to create 160 limited designs.
The deep blue lacquered dial is engraved with spiral patterns, resembling the tranquil night sky. At the 5 o’clock position, there is a golden crescent moon, like a thread of hope, symbolizing a beautiful outlook for the future. The watch itself is crafted in black ceramic, with a transparent case back echoing the transparency favored by architectural masters. Combined with the profound symbols of the moon and spiral, it exudes a serene atmosphere, interpreting time in the most exquisite and beautiful way.
