Louis Vuitton brings its big show to the famous Musée d’Orsay for the first time, showcasing a new collection inspired by “youth” in a building that combines classical aesthetics and modern technology. The fashion show opened by brand ambassador Jung Ho-yeon, who just won the “28th Screen Actors Guild Awards”, previewed the mix-and-match style of the 2022 autumn/winter collection with her neutral outfit.
The collection is themed around the fantasies of youth, with the brand’s creative director for women’s wear, Nicolas Ghesquière, believing that in dressing up, one’s youthful years are not bound by any rules, combining educational background, culture, idols, heroes, and self-affirmation.
The men’s suit jacket, leather coat, and Polo shirt, which symbolize school uniforms, blend Nicolas Ghesquière’s avant-garde style, adding wide shoulder pads and oversized lapels, making the silhouette loose, abandoning all traditional clothing looks, ignoring all rules like teenagers.
Some designs are printed with the works of British fashion photographer David Sims in the 1990s. Nicolas Ghesquière said, “I really like these works, they are very pure, showing a kind of youthful feeling.” The brand’s creative team turned the photos into floral pattern stickers and embroidered details, like the T-shirts that teenagers buy after a concert, or the floral wallpaper covered with idol posters in their bedrooms.
The entire series retains a youthful, rebellious, energetic, and casual vibe, preserving the romantic feelings of youth through clothing, as well as the longing for a better world in the future.
