Artspace K will soon hold a ceramic dual exhibition “Parallel Time and Space • Coexistence of Heaven and Earth”, featuring over 50 carefully crafted works by two experienced ceramic artists, Li Huixian and Yang Yuqin. Although their styles are different, they both draw inspiration from daily life and incorporate the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures, creating works that are both warm and innovative in their aesthetics. In this exhibition, both ceramic artists showcase their unique strengths in terms of form and subject matter, but they use their creative imagination to connect the two worlds.

As a renowned ceramic artist in Hong Kong, Lee Wai-han’s public art pieces can be found throughout various locations in Hong Kong, including Hong Kong International Airport, Yau Tong MTR Station, and Lee Tung Street in Wan Chai. Her handcrafted figurines are all chubby and adorable, showcasing the artist’s wisdom and humor.

In addition, its ceramic figurines skillfully capture various social scenes. Taking the exhibited works as an example, the inspiration comes from the artist’s observation of solitary individuals on the beach during the pandemic-related gathering restrictions. The lively and charming appearance of each ceramic doll brings a smile to people’s faces.

Artist Yang Yuqin was born in Hong Kong and moved to the Netherlands in her early years, where her creations were deeply influenced by both Chinese and Western cultures. Even after moving abroad, she has always been connected to Chinese culture, especially her passion for Chinese calligraphy, which has inspired her to express her inner world through paper, brush, ink, and ceramics. These delicate porcelain works, resembling thin paper, are inspired by Chinese calligraphy and rice paper. She folds the porcelain pieces lightly and adds gentle and elegant coloring in the later stages, presenting a visual effect similar to three-dimensional ink paintings.

During the exhibition, the gallery also arranged two artist lectures. Remember to seize the opportunity if you are interested in ceramics.
