Gucci has announced the appointment of Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu as its latest brand ambassador. Hanyu, with remarkable achievements, started figure skating at the age of 4 and became the first male figure skater in Winter Olympics history to win gold in consecutive games. In 2020, he became the “Super Grand Slam” champion dominating international competitions and is the youngest recipient of the People’s Honor Award.
After transitioning to a professional career in July 2022, he continued his skating career and explored new directions, including planning ice shows and supporting the revitalization and reconstruction of his hometown, Sendai, after the Great East Japan Earthquake. In 2023, he entered the professional fashion photography circle, with the opening exhibition of Yuzuru Hanyu’s photo exhibition at the Gucci Ginza Gallery, showcasing his inner strength. Regarding his new role as a Gucci brand ambassador, Yuzuru Hanyu said, “I am delighted to be part of the Gucci community, which goes beyond the fashion field and connects with creators from around the world. Gucci has a long history of dedicating itself to craftsmanship with passion, showcasing extraordinary creativity, and has a large fan base in Japan. I look forward to continuing to discover the charm of Gucci in the future.”
