Hosted by Lamborghini, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Challenge, which is considered the most prestigious event in the European GT car industry, officially enters its thirteenth edition this year. The event kicked off in April and reached its third stage in July. In addition to the third stage event held in Italy, the manufacturer also received good news, being awarded the “Large Event Sustainability Management System (ISO 20121)” certification by Italian TÜV, making Super Trofeo a sustainable event.
Obtaining ISO 20121 certification means that Lamborghini strictly adheres to environmental, social, and economic standards in the organization and preparation of events, following sustainable development criteria. As early as 2014, Lamborghini obtained TÜV certification for the entire product range of carbon fiber vehicle maintenance services, and later in 2016, Lamborghini’s racing department Squadra Corse also obtained “Quality Management System Certification (ISO 9001)”.
According to the development plan of the brand “Direzione Cor Tauri” (Towards the Heart of Taurus), Lamborghini’s racing department Squadra Corse has implemented a series of detailed plans at the Misano circuit, including energy-saving projects, reducing the use of paper and plastic, even using local organic products for catering, as well as a charity-focused food recycling project, aiming to enhance the understanding and awareness of sustainability for every participant during the weekend event through such open and professional events.
This award was presented by Italy’s TÜV to Lamborghini’s Deputy Vice President of Motorsport, Maurizio Reggiani, for the ISO 20121 certification. The organization is a certification body established in Italy for environmental, quality, energy, and safety fields, with Francesco Scarlata, Head of the Business Assurance Department, being the presenter of this award. Regarding the certification received by the car manufacturer, Maurizio Reggiani stated: “This is an important milestone, marking a significant step towards a fully sustainable championship. Our commitment in various activities, projects, and measures is comprehensive and consistent. Sustainable development is an important concept already rooted in the brand’s DNA, and the Squadra Corse Motorsport Department hopes to continue playing an active role in this area.”
To strengthen support for sustainable development in this event, Lamborghini’s racing department Squadra Corse announced that all used Pirelli tires from the six rounds of the thirteenth Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Challenge will be recycled for materials and energy after the race, as one of the measures taken by the manufacturer in collaboration with Pirelli to promote a circular economy. This demonstrates Lamborghini’s concentrated development in the automotive and racing fields, leading the brand to take various initiatives to continuously invest in sustainable development.
