【Geneva Watch Days Special】BREITLING’s latest 2020 Endurance Pro series

After the release of the “sea, land, and air” strategy in April, arriving this summer, Breitling draws inspiration from the 1970s pulse watch Sprint, bringing the new Endurance Pro watch series. Brand CEO George Kern shared: “Endurance Pro is a watch that can satisfy daily training and professional athletes at the same time.” How does this new work from Breitling balance the two major elements of “professional watches” and “leisure life”?

The new Endurance Pro watch is the ultimate sports casual style in the brand’s Professional series, equipped with a SuperQuartz™ super quartz movement with a temperature compensation adjustment mechanism. Its accuracy is ten times that of traditional quartz movements, and it has already obtained the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) certification. In addition to the movement, emphasizing the production of professional sports watches, the Endurance Pro emphasizes the readability of the watch. The watch has a large 44mm diameter, with hour and minute hands coated with Super-LumiNova® luminescent coating. The 1/10-second hour counter at 2 o’clock and the 30-minute chronograph at 10 o’clock are marked with a red second hand to avoid overlapping with the main hands.

In terms of design, Breitling considers the element of weight, so this time it deliberately uses the brand’s self-developed patented Breitlight® material, not only echoing the ultra-light resin used in the Spring watch back then, but also hoping to enhance durability – as mentioned repeatedly, Breitlight® material, which is more than three times lighter than titanium, actually made its debut as early as 2016. Breitlight® is more durable than the widely used carbon fiber on the market, with multiple high-end properties such as anti-magnetic, heat stability, anti-allergic, scratch-resistant, and corrosion-resistant.

On the other hand, the new Endurance Pro series features a black dial with a black bidirectional rotating bezel. In addition to the chronograph scale, the bezel is also engraved with the four letters representing the cardinal points of East, South, West, and North. It is mentioned at the beginning that the Endurance Pro is inspired by the Sprint pulse watch, and Breitling has incorporated this function into the new piece, with the inner bezel displayed in bright colors being the unique Pulsometer of the Endurance Pro.

However, what really distinguishes the five watch colors in the series is the Diver Pro rubber strap in the same color tone as the inner ring, with color options including white, blue, yellow, orange, and red. The strap also features a Breitlight® material double-pin buckle, and Breitling allows Endurance Pro users to purchase Outerknown ECONYL® yarn NATO nylon straps for users to change according to different environments or situations.

The new Endurance Pro series watch has been officially released on Breitling’s official website, with an official price of HK$22,000. There are five color options available at the same price, and the Outerknown ECONYL® yarn NATO nylon strap needs to be purchased separately.
