This year’s Marine series brings the Marine Tourbillon Équation Marchante 5887 with a rock gray gold dial, the sporty Marine 5517, Chronographe 5527, Alarme Musicale 5547, and the high-end Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia luxury jewelry watch.
Marine has always been a watch series that embodies the long-standing tradition, outstanding performance, and elegant aesthetics of Breguet. Although the series is named Marine with a rich maritime atmosphere, this year’s Marine Tourbillon Équation Marchante 5887 breaks the traditional impression of nautical timekeeping tools. The new work once again combines three complex functions of the perpetual calendar, equation of time, and tourbillon, while being made with a slate gray gold dial and a rose gold case. The dial is decorated with hand-engraved wave patterns, a compass rose hand-engraved on the barrel, and the platinum rotor is engraved with the word “Breguet,” giving the dial and movement a unique artistic flair.
Furthermore, the movement bridge can be seen from the bottom of the watch, engraved by hand with the image of the ancient French navy flagship Royal Louis.
It is worth noting that the watch is equipped with both traditional civil hour and minute hands and a second hand that directly displays solar time, making the Marine Tourbillon Équation Marchante 5887, which also features a unique Breguet calendar and 581DPE mechanical movement, more distinctive, fully meeting the needs of sailors crossing the ocean. The new Marine Tourbillon Équation Marchante 5887 watch is priced at HKD $1,663,700.
Marine 5517, Chronograph 5527, Musical Alarm 5547
As for the three sporty Marine watches, Marine 5517, Chronographe 5527, and Alarme Musicale 5547, they are special styles made by Patek Philippe in 2020 with rose gold and platinum. Each of the three models comes in two material styles, with dials uniformly adorned with hand-engraved wave design in gold material.
In terms of functionality, the most minimalist Marine 5517 features a clear three-hand display layout with a date display window at 3 o’clock; the Marine Chronographe 5527’s three sub-dials provide short time measurements; and the Marine Alarme Musicale 5547 is equipped with a complex alarm function, a second time zone date, and time functions. In terms of price, the prices of Marine 5517, Chronographe 5527, and Alarme Musicale 5547 watches are: HKD $379,500, $435,800, and $466,700 respectively.
Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia
In the 2020 new works, the Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia high jewelry watch is the only completely new debut piece.
The brand presents the vine pattern of Posidonia oceanica on the Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia watch through intricate inlay of mother-of-pearl and invisible setting craftsmanship. The dial is set with 85 rectangular cut diamonds, symbolizing the ripples on the iridescent water surface, paired with Tahitian mother-of-pearl to present a deep iridescent glow. The dial will emit a darker or more silvery luster with the light. Moreover, the bezel, case, lugs connecting the strap, and the buckle are all adorned with finely set diamonds, making it extremely elegant.
As for the components, the Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia is equipped with the ultra-thin self-winding caliber 591C movement, with the bridge decorated with hand-engraved Marine motifs inspired by ship decks, delicately showcasing the fusion of craftsmanship and technology by Breguet.
In addition to diamond and Tahitian pearl designs, the series also introduces three other designs, which are set with blue sapphire, ruby, and emerald inlaid with white pearl oyster shells, with emeralds arriving at the Hong Kong store earlier.
Tradition Series
Inspired by Breguet’s late 18th-century Subscription pocket watch movement, the Tradition series upholds the brand’s heritage and transforms timepieces with a modern style. This year, Breguet introduces new pieces, including the all-new Tradition Quantième Retrograde 7597, the redesigned Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097, and the Tradition 7038 ladies’ watch.
The new Tradition Quantième Retrograde 7597 watch, equipped with a retrograde date display, has a 40mm diameter case made of platinum, with fine coin edge detailing. In terms of movement, it is powered by the automatic winding 505Q movement, with an inverted straight-line lever escapement equipped with silicon pallets and a silicon balance spring, and the gold rotor can be clearly seen through the transparent case back. Although it is introduced under the name of a new creation, its features evoke thoughts of Perpetuelles or the brand’s first batch of automatic winding watches, further confirming Mr. Baoji’s ingenious craftsmanship.
As for the redesigned Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097 watch, the dial is made with blue engine-turned engraving, with a retrograde seconds hand at 10 o’clock and blued steel hour and minute hands. For the seconds display, the watchmaker specifically designed a semi-circle with circular graining to prevent confusion with other display functions.
The fully openwork design not only reveals all the complex structures hidden under the dial, but also directly showcases Breguet’s proud watchmaking craftsmanship, allowing wearers to appreciate its unique state every time they check the time, especially the operation of Breguet’s famous shock absorber device at the 4 o’clock position. The new Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097 is priced at HK$278,900.
Finally, there is the brand new Tradition 7038 ladies’ watch. Inspired by the touch pocket watch of the Tradition 7038, it combines precision mechanics with feminine charm. The off-center dial layout is made of Tahitian mother-of-pearl, adorned with a clous de Paris guilloché pattern. The bezel and crown are set with 68 sparkling diamonds and 1 oval-cut ruby. Paired with an orange calfskin strap, it exudes a magnificent style. The Tradition 7038 watch is equipped with the 505SR self-winding movement with a silicon balance spring made by Breguet, consisting of 216 components and providing 50 hours of power reserve.
In addition, Baoyu has specially designed an orange grained calfskin Clutch handbag for Tradition 7038 this time, made entirely by hand in Italy. The color matches the strap, and the buckle echoes the rose pattern on the barrel, which is believed to be very popular among ladies. As for the price, the Tradition 7038 watch, exclusively available at Baoyu boutiques, is priced at HKD $307,400.
