【Sports Car Feature】15 Most Followed “Supercars” on Instagram Ranking (Part 2)

7. La Ferrari – 1,040,383 hashtags

Before 2013, the iconic models within the Ferrari factory may still be the subject of endless debate, but as of March 5, 2013, the top position of Ferrari’s supercar officially belongs to LaFerrari. Although bearing the name of mass production, Ferrari only promised to produce 499 units. Ferrari’s CEO, Luca di Montezemolo, once explained that the reason LaFerrari was named as such is because this limited edition supercar fully embodies Ferrari’s automotive philosophy since its establishment, excelling in both technology and design. LaFerrari is equipped with hybrid technology, utilizing Ferrari’s Scuderia racing department’s F1 KERS energy recovery system technology, combined with a 6.3-liter V12 engine paired with a new generation HY-KERS power system, allowing it to output a total of 963 horsepower, with a top speed exceeding 350 km/h, going from 0-100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, and 0-200 km/h in less than 7 seconds.

I have always believed that being able to witness a LaFerrari driving on the road in person, you must be a very fortunate person. Friends familiar with the supercar market should know that it is not easy to get any Ferrari directly from Ferrari, and it is rumored that after LaFerrari made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, it received over 1500 purchase applications in just 3 days. However, there are reports that Ferrari’s selection of qualified buyers for LaFerrari is much stricter than before, so it took quite some time before all of them were sold. So, do you all understand where their happiness lies now?

6. McLaren P1 – 1,088,026 hashtags

When LaFerrari made its debut, while the LaFerrari had not yet appeared, almost the entire automotive industry was discussing two other supercars, one being the Veneno produced by the Italian noble car manufacturer Lamborghini, and the other being the P1, a McLaren model that inherits the F1 legacy from the top British car manufacturer McLaren. The McLaren P1™, limited to 375 units worldwide, is a cross-generational interpretation of the classic McLaren in the automotive industry interpreting the F1 race car – to this day, the McLaren F1 has maintained the record for the fastest naturally aspirated car for over 20 years – and the mission of the McLaren P1™ is very clear, to interpret the pure speed on the track, while also mastering the classic automotive industry that runs on the road.

Equipped with a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged high-boost engine, paired with McLaren’s self-developed high-power battery pack, the maximum horsepower output can reach 916 horsepower, torque can reach 900Nm, and the top speed is 350km/hr. In addition to shaping the optimized appearance through airflow, the McLaren P1™ also features an upgraded all-carbon fiber ultra-lightweight body, and it was the only supercar at the time to maintain a downforce level of 600KG in a production model, making it one of the legendary models within the McLaren factory to this day.

5. Lamborghini Gallardo – 1,246,387 hashtags

The Lamborghini model that spans a production period of 10 years is one of the best-selling models in the history of the car manufacturer. For this raging bull, there may not be a need for much introduction, as friends who have considered buying a supercar must have thought about this model. However, the reason why the Gallardo is so popular is not only because of its relatively affordable price, but also because since its production started in 2004, Lamborghini has continuously made improvements to this car. Even in the year before it was discontinued, Lamborghini specifically introduced the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-2 rear-wheel-drive anniversary edition at the Geneva Motor Show, along with the highlight of the time, the Veneno, showing its importance. As the best-selling raging bull, I believe that car enthusiasts in Hong Kong most commonly see this Gallardo model.

4. Ferrari 458 Italia – 1,577,067 hashtags

The 458 Italia is the successor to the F430, which was only produced for 5 years. It also adopts a pure MR configuration with a mid-engine and rear-wheel drive, with the exterior designed by the Pinifarina studio. It is a precise and perfect aerodynamic supercar. The 458 Italia is equipped with a 4.5-liter V8 engine, featuring direct injection technology, a compression ratio of up to 12.5:1, and a racing-style high-revving setting that can reach up to 9000rpm. With a maximum horsepower of 570hp, it was considered quite exaggerated at the time, exceeding the previous generation’s ultimate version, the F430 Scuderia, by 60hp. In addition to the new engine, the 458 Italia is Ferrari’s second model to adopt a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission system. Ferrari specifically modified the gear shifting speed and gear ratios for the 458 Italia. The 458 Italia accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 325km/h. Later, Ferrari developed an upgraded version, the 458 Speciale, which featured an engine that was almost comparable to a racing car, capturing the hearts of many car enthusiasts.

3. Lamborghini Huracán – 2,454,737 hashtags

When it comes to the appearance of the Huracán, personally, it is always interpreted as Lamborghini’s reluctance to let go of the Gallardo. However, in order to meet the needs of the market, it made its debut in a more powerful manner, following Lamborghini’s tradition of naming it after a bull with Spanish Conte de la Patilla lineage from the 19th century. The all-new Huracan not only improves engine performance compared to the Gallardo but also focuses more on precise electronic technology – in simple terms, it emphasizes the driving experience, allowing the owner to accelerate at will in any situation, enjoy the thrill of high-speed cornering, and truly unleash the performance of the “mad bull.”

Geneva motor Show 2014

In terms of power, the Huracán still features a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, with its maximum output increased to 602 horsepower. The engine now also uses a new fuel injection system, and the redesigned exhaust system allows the Huracán to roar with a more powerful sound. On the other hand, the entire control configuration of the Huracán has been completely revamped, all converted to buttons or levers, fully embodying a “user-friendly” upgrade. In terms of exterior design, similar to the flagship Aventador, sharp lines are used to sculpt a powerful appearance, along with features such as a low front end, honeycomb grille, and layered side air intakes, allowing the Huracán to perfectly showcase the precision engineering of the manufacturer.

2. Audi R8 – 3,101,951 hashtags

The only Audi model selected for the ranking, and as soon as it entered the ranking, it was already in second place. This shows how powerful the influence of the R8 is. However, the reason why the R8 has become so popular is because it brought an upgraded version nearly ten years after its initial release. The R8, which first appeared in 2006, was officially replaced by the second generation model at the Geneva Motor Show in early 2015. The new generation of the R8 has attempted to push the limits in terms of body size, not only shortening the length but also lowering the height by 12mm and widening the width by 11mm. In terms of this introduction, it is necessary to mention the relationship between the R8, Gallardo, and Huracán: the first generation R8, like the Lamborghini Gallardo, shared the same chassis design, and when it came to the second generation R8, the chassis design was almost the same as the Huracán, both using CFRP reinforced carbon fiber in the midsection of the body and transmission axle channel. The only differences are in the front, rear, and suspension structures. This is why there has always been a saying in the automotive industry that the R8 was born for the Gallardo and Huracán.

The new generation R8 features a 5.2-liter V10 mid-mounted naturally aspirated engine with high-rev characteristics, paired with a 7-speed S tronic transmission and a new all-wheel drive setup, offering two power versions. The engine of the R8 is a low-power V10, with a maximum horsepower of only 540, but when the engine reaches 6,500 rpm, it can output a maximum torque of 55 kgm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 323 km/h. When thinking of the R8, one might immediately associate it with the car frequently driven by Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man in Marvel movies.

1. Lamborghini Aventador – 3,309,068 hashtags

Why is the popularity of the Aventador so strong? It’s simple, almost every celebrity and collector you can think of owns one, from Ronaldo, Travis Scott, Floyd Mayweather, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, G-Dragon, and so on… And representing Hong Kong, we must mention the car enthusiast “Cheng Cheng” Aaron Kwok, as a distinguished Lamborghini customer, the factory even specially created an Aventador painted in Aaron Tone (custom dark green) for him.

Regarding the introduction of the Aventador LP700-4, it is really impossible to provide a detailed introduction here. It can only be said that when Lamborghini brought it to the international stage in 2011, the discussions it sparked have not stopped to this day. From the performance of the “big bull” engine, aerodynamic performance, interior cabin, instrument panel display, quick function keys, audio-visual entertainment services, Lamborghini has made shocking upgrades to the Aventador, even meeting environmental requirements for low emissions and low fuel consumption. Therefore, when it comes to the “king of popularity” Aventador, it is no longer just a discussion of its ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds or reach a top speed of 350 km/h.

The 15 most attention-grabbing supercars of 2020 have all been introduced to everyone, but the styles introduced are limited to those on Instagram, so it cannot be said to be the most accurate. Among these 15 supercars, are there any favorites for everyone? If so, which exterior design style do you like the most? If so, feel free to share with other car enthusiast readers!
