It’s 2020, so what if guys wear makeup?

The controversy of gender discrimination has been escalating in the fashion and beauty industry in recent years, criticizing the lack of diversity and inclusivity. This has prompted brands and designers to strive for reform! Recently, Gucci released its first seasonless men’s and women’s collection “Epilogue”, echoing the brand’s creative director Alessandro Michele’s diverse design philosophy, showcasing a variety of men’s makeup, demonstrating the brand’s determination to practice diversity.

“Epilogue” menswear and womenswear series invited design department staff to serve as models, interpreting the latest fashion works through “amateurs” who were previously considered not perfect enough, breaking the framework of fashion only suitable for beautiful tall models, subverting old aesthetic standards.

In addition, the brand also uses Gucci Beauty cosmetics on men’s faces, originally only for women, showing that men can also freely apply makeup. “Amateur male models” apply foundation, lipstick, draw eyebrows with eyebrow pencils, and then apply the newly launched Vernis À Ongles nail polish, but the style is not deliberately feminized. Male makeup is simply a pursuit of beauty, completely unrelated to sexual orientation!

It’s 2020, let’s all embrace multiculturalism from now on. Men wearing makeup is definitely not a weirdo, it’s just a natural expression and release of “I am who I think.” Who cares!
