#Paris Fashion Week: Dior 2022 Spring/Summer Collection Revives the Glamorous 1960s, Paying Tribute to the Classic “Slim Look”

by

Dior’s 2022 Spring/Summer women’s collection recreates the beautiful image of 1960s fashion, with Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri drawing inspiration from the works of former Dior Creative Director Marc Bohan, reinterpreting the fashion trends of that era on the runway.

Marc Bohan may be a bit unfamiliar to everyone, but he actually held the longest creative directorship at Dior. Maria Grazia Chiuri has recreated his classic “Slim Look,” with strong 1960s vibes throughout the entire collection, whether in color or cut.

Skirts, dresses, exquisite coats, shorts, and loose-cut outerwear, combined in various forms of matching, create a rich variety of colors. Yellow, green, red, navy blue, orange, berry tones, and more alternate to present a contemporary fashion aesthetic, blending futuristic square cuts with a nostalgic vintage feel, reminiscent of the beauty of color blocks designed by Marc Bohan.

In order to cater to the color block aesthetic style, Maria Grazia Chiuri also commissioned artist Anna Paparatti to design the show scene with her expertise in geometric aesthetics, creating a magnificent setting full of surrealism. The high and low floors of the show scene are interspersed with various candy-colored checkerboards, perfectly echoing the diverse cuts and silhouettes of the new collection.
