Since its debut in the 1940s, the Serpenti collection by BVLGARI has become the brand’s most iconic symbol. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Serpenti logo. In addition to exquisite jewelry and watches, BVLGARI has collaborated with three contemporary artists, Sunwoo Kim, Zhou Li, and Sophie Kitching, to create a limited edition Serpenti Forever handbag collection. Through their creative vision and unique craftsmanship, they interpret the serpent, and for the first time, venture into the virtual dimension of NFT, opening up a unique digital experience that can only be explored through the handbags.
The Serpenti in Art collection consists of six handbags, with each artist contributing two designs. Korean painter Sunwoo Kim is known for her design featuring the migratory bird, symbolizing the pursuit of freedom and happiness. The daytime bag she designed for this collection features embossed calfskin with a fantasy forest and green leaves, highlighting the three-dimensional effect of the image and the dynamic texture. When you open the flap, you’ll discover a hidden design: a migratory bird jumping out from uniquely shaped leaves, while the coordinating snakehead clasp is made of vibrant green enamel with black striped agate eyes.
The evening bag is adorned with BVLGARI’s iconic octagonal star, presenting a charming night scene. The toucan seems to be chasing dreams, flying in the blue sky with the shining golden details and embroidered decorations. The captivating snakehead lock is designed with a “diamond-cut” effect, presenting a metallic granular texture, and combined with enticing turquoise eyes, adding a touch of golden radiance to this handbag.
Chinese artist Zhou Li’s works encompass painting, sculpture, installation, and public art. This time, she reimagined the Serpenti Forever Top Handle handbag with her unique language of lyrical abstraction. The design features the iconic snakehead lock, adorned with corresponding colored enamel scales, and a geometric brass top handle with a gold mirror finish.
The first piece is named “Ocean,” inspired by Zhou Li’s painting series “Peach Blossom Spring: Water and Dreams,” which focuses on human freedom and hope. The iconic combination of blue and pink, along with Zhou Li’s delicate brushstrokes, injects new life into the calf leather body, depicting a dreamlike universe.
Inspired by another famous series “Spring,” the second work “Forest” combines captivating imagery, the painting techniques of Chinese landscape painting, and the romantic atmosphere of the forest. Rich details, golden embroidery, and precious decorations add a luxurious texture to this small cowhide handbag.

33-year-old American artist Sophie Kitching focuses on the duality of the snake and its infinite transformative power, unleashing creativity in opposing forces such as day and night, and inner and outer.
Like her painting series, “Invisible Green” adds countless colors, petals, and leaves to the white calfskin. The iconic snakehead lock is adorned with matching colored enamel inlays, and the captivating brushstrokes evoke the enchanting scales of a snake. The nature-inspired patterns also inject vitality into the design of the second handbag, with contrasting colors between the vibrant hues and black calfskin, inspired by the artist’s painting “Nocturne,” symbolizing the mysterious form and transformation of a snake.
