Keep up with the environmental trend! Prada launches the Re-Nylon project, transforming the brand’s iconic handbags with recycled nylon!

by

With the changing times, environmental protection has become a major trend and a trend worth following. Major brands also understand this principle and are implementing environmental protection concepts in all aspects. Prada, after previously announcing the complete ban on leather in the 2020 spring/summer women’s collection, has a new plan – Re-Nylon, launching a series of sustainable Prada handbag collections made from specially designed recycled nylon.

Prada Re-Nylon is a comprehensive sustainability initiative that aims to transform all untreated nylon fabrics into ECONYL® regenerated nylon by the end of 2021, promoting an environmentally friendly corporate culture and integrating the concept of giving back to society into daily work.

This time, Prada collaborates with textile yarn manufacturer Aquafil to manufacture plastic waste obtained through the collection of marine waste, fishing nets, and textile fiber waste in the recycling and purification process into ECONYL®, and incorporates this material into 6 men’s and women’s bags, including waist bags, shoulder bags, handbags, luggage bags, and two backpacks, featuring a reinterpretation of the Prada triangle logo, showcasing a range of unique and environmentally friendly products.

In order to showcase the production process of the Re-Nylon project to the public, Prada intentionally collaborated with National Geographic magazine to create a series of short films titled What We Carry. The films convey the goals, intentions, and realities of the project, emphasizing environmental issues.
