CHANEL hosts its first literary gathering, discussing literature with Monaco Princess Charlotte Casiraghi.

Fashion is more than just buying clothes to look good. In fact, it also includes rich content such as history, culture, music, and literature. Truly understanding fashion can help enhance personal cultivation. The century-old luxury brand CHANEL from France has always upheld the spirit of Coco Chanel, sharing the true meaning of fashion from different perspectives. In addition to the lively and interesting fashion short film series “Inside CHANEL,” the brand recently held a literary gathering called “Rendez-vous littéraire rue Cambon” for the first time. Creative Director Virginie Viard and the latest brand ambassador and Monaco Princess Charlotte Casiraghi co-curated the event with the theme of “liberation,” reacquainting with past female writers and giving voice to today’s female writers.

This literary gathering took place at the brand’s headquarters on Rue Cambon in Paris, with writer Sarah Chiche and art historian Fanny Arama in attendance. They sat in front of Coco Chanel’s screen and discussed psychoanalyst and writer Lou Andreas-Salomé, each sharing how Salomé had influenced them. Born in 1861 in Russia, Salomé was an outstanding scholar and free thinker, as well as one of the earliest female scholars to study female psychology. A woman of great talent, she was admired by philosopher Nietzsche, the lover of poet Rainer Maria Rilke, and a friend of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.

Charlotte Casiraghi said that on her seventeenth birthday summer, Karl Lagerfeld recommended Sade’s book to her. She read some of Sade’s wonderful works in French, making readers feel like they were attending an exciting book club. With the recent trend on Clubhouse, it is worth recommending everyone to watch the first episode of “Rendez-vous littéraire rue Cambon” and look forward to the release of the second episode together.
