Octo Finissimo has always held a unique position in the modern watchmaking industry since its inception, setting 9 records in the past decade, including the world’s thinnest three-hand wristwatch and the world’s thinnest automatic chronograph wristwatch. Today, Bvlgari celebrates its 140th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the watchmaking department has launched a wristwatch with a dial adorned with a graphic design, showcasing the unique dial design on the back of the movement.
Sketch is the soul of a watch, just as the movement is its mechanical soul. Therefore, Bvlgari conceived a concept: to integrate sketches and movement backs, art and technology on the dial. The innovative Octo Finissimo Automatic Sketch automatic watch series will launch two limited editions: a limited edition of 280 stainless steel models and a limited edition of 70 rose gold models. On the watch, the “dial” uniquely showcases the watch’s micro-rotor, escapement structure, bridges, ruby bearings, and intricate finishing details. The 18K rose gold model exudes the charm of monochrome tones from polished and satin-brushed cases, bracelets to dials. The watch cleverly incorporates gray tones into its hands and sketches, making it more elegant and allowing the sketches to flow freely on it. The stainless steel model also uses a monochrome color scheme, with a more modern and urban look. Gray tones dominate on the watch: the sketch background is gray-white, adorned with carbon-colored lines drawn by Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani with a pencil; the hands are charcoal gray; and the color of the stainless steel case and bracelet. The interplay of polished and satin-brushed finishes, along with the unique sunray brushed bezel, gives the watch a unique radiance.
Each watch has a diameter of 40 millimeters and a thickness of 6.4 millimeters, equipped with a self-made BVL 138 movement (2.3 millimeters thick, automatic winding, power reserve of 60 hours). The sapphire crystal case back is engraved with the unique words “EDIZIONE LIMITATA” and “1884 – 2024” to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Bvlgari’s founding, making each watch not only a timepiece but also a tribute to tradition and craftsmanship.
