After collaborating with Omega, Swatch brings another new topic, partnering with Blancpain from the same group to launch the Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms diving watch series with an ocean theme.
The collaborative watch is paired with the brand’s in-house manufactured Sistem51 mechanical movement, which is the world’s first and only fully automated production mechanical movement to date. This movement uses Nivachron hairspring, has anti-magnetic function, and has a power reserve of 90 hours, all while being composed of only 51 components, hence its name.
The series includes five styles of watches, each named after the five major oceans of the Earth, including Antarctic Ocean, Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Pacific Ocean, with gray, red and sand, blue, green, black and yellow as the main colors.
And the back of the 5 watches depicts a beautiful and colorful creature that lives in the ocean: the nudibranch, digitally printed on the movement.
In terms of materials, the collaborative style uses the brand’s patented Bioceramic, which is made from two-thirds ceramic and one-third biobased material derived from castor oil. In addition, to express concern for ocean protection, the watch is also equipped with a NATO strap made from recycled fishing nets.
The dial and crown are marked with the Blancpain×Swatch logo, and the left side of the case is engraved with the word “Swatch,” echoing the Blancpain inscription on the Fifty Fathoms watch. The back of the watch is engraved with the words “PASSION FOR DIVING – LICENSE TO EXPLORE” and others.
