Hermès’s aesthetics and craftsmanship go beyond handbags and leather goods. The brand’s watch designs are also symbols of taste and a popular choice for women. At the annual watch and legend event, the brand has unveiled a variety of new watches. In addition to the previously released ultra-romantic purple CAPE COD crépuscule “Twilight Glow” watch, we have selected the styles that are most interesting to ladies for 2022, and will introduce them to you one by one.
Focus 1: New Kelly Watch
First, let’s introduce the Hermès Kelly watch. The Kelly handbag is a popular classic of the brand. To own one is a matter of luck. If you don’t have a Kelly handbag, why not take a look at the equally charming Kelly watch? The Kelly watch was born in 1975 and features the iconic padlock shape from the handbag.
The 2022 Kelly watch not only has an elegant and sleek design, but this year it adds a flexible and free way of wearing it. In addition to its functionality as a watch, you can also attach a bell-shaped black Box calf leather or shiny short-snout crocodile leather case with a leather cord, transforming it into a necklace. All leather goods are crafted with Hermès leather craftsmanship, making it a versatile piece!
Kelly watches come in five styles to choose from, including stainless steel, rose gold, with or without diamonds, paired with a white mother-of-pearl or white lacquered dial. The version without diamonds is priced at HK$36,600, making it a very affordable option to start with.
Focus 2: ARCEAU Les folies du ciel Craftsmanship Watch
This year’s Hermès watch exhibition with the theme of “Wandering Through Time” takes you on a high-flying journey through watch design. Therefore, the brand specifically references the “Les Folies du Ciel” scarf pattern designed by Loïc Dubigeon in 1984 on the Arceau watch, recreating cute patterns resembling hot air balloons and airships through painting, engraving, and other crafts to celebrate the development of aerodynamics and to praise humanity’s pursuit of soaring higher into the sky.
Hermès craftsmen have recreated this dreamy journey in a 38mm white gold case, with two lifelike pink and green hot air balloons passing through kiln-fired canvas to create a three-dimensional relief curve, creating the illusion of being filled with hot air and able to fly inside. Each surface is hand-polished to give off a dazzling shine.
These two balloons are connected to the hand-painted 750 white gold bird-shaped cockpit. The one at the 12 o’clock position is a hand-painted, movable balloon that rotates with the movement of the wrist. This exquisitely crafted watch is limited to 24 pieces and comes with a limited edition number.
Focus 3: Arceau Le temps voyageur Time Traveler Watch
In response to the theme of Hermès’ “Wandering in Time” traveler, the Arceau watch also has this design that includes world time zones for the first time. Through the simple and clear suspended world time zone mechanism “around the world,” it is very suitable for the current “post-pandemic” period.
The watch is made of platinum with titanium or stainless steel, featuring a round case with asymmetrical lugs that provide a unique interpretation of world time zones. Hermès reinterprets the classic world time zone complication in the high-end watchmaking field, equipped with the exclusive “Roving Hours” mechanical structure developed by Hermès, displaying 24 time zones on a disc. The dial of the watch uses techniques such as electroplating, printing, and baking to reproduce the scarf pattern “Planisphere dun monde équestre 地圖” designed by artist Jérôme Colliard for Hermès, conveying the brand’s spirit of travel.
The watch is equipped with a self-made H1837 automatic winding movement, with a power reserve of about 40 hours, available in 41mm sandblasted titanium and 38mm stainless steel styles.
