TUDOR

Full of deep charm, the blues always evoke thoughts of the tranquil deep sea, while the TUDOR newly released Pelagos FXD (Frogman FXD) professional diving watch combines elements of navy blue and outstanding functionality designed for underwater diving. Every detail in appearance and the movement hidden inside is a fascinating reason, and popular singers Zhang Tianfu (MC), Chen Lei (Panther), and Hong Jiahao (Kaho), along with other guests, recently appeared at the private event “TUDOR Professional Diving Watch 70th Anniversary” held by TUDOR in Central, getting a close look at the brand’s new watches and key diving watches released over the brand’s 70-year history, savoring the brand’s craftsmanship and the long history of diving watches.

TUDOR

The new Pelagos FXD professional diving watch was developed by TUDOR in collaboration with the French Navy’s Marine nationale special forces, with their first collaboration dating back to 1956. The French Navy’s affiliated research institution, the “Marine Education Research and Deep Sea Research Team” (G.E.R.S), specially ordered a batch of Oyster Prince Submariner models 7922 and 7923 for evaluation at the time. These two watches were waterproof up to 100 meters, each equipped with automatic and manual winding movements. The two watches were later praised by the then commander of G.E.R.S for their outstanding waterproof performance and precise timing, leading TUDOR to become the official supplier to the French Navy.

TUDOR diving watches have undergone many variations in design and performance over the decades. In the mid-1970s to the 1980s, the brand’s model 9401 watch became a must-have item for the French Navy. This diving watch was released in two versions, with its “snowflake” hands, engraved with the initials of the French Navy and the year of release on the case back, being the most impressive iconic elements of the watch.

After many years, TUDOR once again collaborated with the French Navy this year to bring the latest style of the Pelagos FXD professional diving watch. Its 42mm matte titanium case is made of a single piece of titanium metal and is equipped with fixed lugs, whose unique design extends like the lugs, making the watch exceptionally sturdy. The case back is engraved with the “Marine nationale” logo, as well as the “M.N.21” inscription inspired by the original models from the 1970s and 1980s, echoing the brand’s classic designs of that era.

The matte navy blue dial, titanium bi-directional rotating bezel, and angular “snowflake” hands are all enhanced with X1 grade Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent coating, along with square hour markers, allowing wearers to clearly see the time indicated on the watch even in dimly lit conditions. It is worth mentioning that the watch’s bezel is equipped with an easy-to-set ceramic 60-minute count-up scale, making it convenient for divers to monitor each countdown.

In addition, the new Pelagos FXD’s integrated woven strap echoes the navy blue tone of the watch, with gray stripes in the center showing exquisite design details. The titanium “D” buckle and self-adhesive buckle can flexibly adapt to different wrist sizes. The watch comes with a navy blue rubber strap adorned with woven patterns and a titanium buckle, allowing for easy switching of watch styles, along with a soft material that provides a secure and comfortable wearing experience.

Beneath its sturdy casing and stylish design, the Pelagos FXD professional diving watch houses the Tudor original movement MT5602, certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The tungsten rotor is crafted with a sandblasted finish, equipped with a silicon hairspring and a power reserve of 70 hours. With precise timing and outstanding water resistance up to 200 meters, this watch is a perfect combination of both form and function, sure to become a favorite fashion accessory for modern men.
