When it comes to the iconic watches of Hermès, we must mention the Cape Cod born in 1991, and the Slim d’Hermès introduced in 2015, each boldly breaking design conventions with their unique square silhouette and angular lugs on the round case. Today, after many years, the brand has released the new Cape Cod Chaîne d’ancre jewelry watch and the Slim d’Hermès La Source de Pégase craft watch, giving these two classic timepieces a fresh new look.

The original case design of the classic Cape Cod watch, created by Robert Dumas in 1938 by dividing and reassembling the “anchor chain” links, with the dial adorned with patterns inspired by ship anchor chains. Continuing Henri d’Origny’s bold design creativity from that era, Hermès has introduced 3 Cape Cod Chaîne d’ancre jewelry watches with shimmering diamonds set in sandblasted, gold-plated, and lacquered silver obsidian.
The new styles include a rose gold watch case with a diamond-set clasp anchor chain and a silver aventurine dial; the other two watches are more delicate, one with a diamond-set stainless steel case and a silver aventurine dial, and the other with a rose gold case complementing a sandblasted gold dial. Paired with delicate gold or rhodium-plated hands, cream white or pearl gray short-snout crocodile leather straps, they feel elegant.

In addition to the new watches from Cape Cod, the brand has recently released two new limited edition La Source de Pégase craft watches for Slim d’Hermès, limited to 12 pieces each. Through the exquisite craftsmanship of enamel and engraving masters, the watches present the flying horse from the La Source de Pégase scarf designed by French artist Pierre Marie. Depicting the myth of Pegasus striking the rock with his hoof to bring forth the spring of Hippocrene on Mount Helicon, this joyful and dazzling flying horse leaps out on the slim dial of the Slim d’Hermès watch.
Both Slim d’Hermès La Source de Pégase craft watches are presented in vibrant colors, with one featuring a bright yellow tone and set with multiple rectangular cut diamonds. The three-dimensional Pegasus in the center is made through multiple layers of enamel firing and hand-carving, while its fan-shaped wings are crafted using straw inlay techniques, with meticulous attention to detail in processes such as dyeing and drying.
Another La Source de Pégas craft watch is adorned with a sky blue Pegasus, its wings interwoven with platinum material stand out from the colorful mother-of-pearl background. Micro-painting artists carefully brush various colors of paint onto the mother-of-pearl dial, then dry it in the kiln, while engraving masters use carving knives and chisels to sculpt the outline of the platinum Pegasus in relief, and then hand-paint it to add bright colors to the watch.
Both watches are equipped with Hermès’ self-made H1950 ultra-thin automatic winding movement, and are paired with cream white or Mykonos blue short-snout crocodile leather straps, echoing the theme colors of the watches.
