Rolex 2020 New Collection Introduction – The “Colorful” Surprise of the New Oyster Perpetual Series

Mentioning this year’s release of the new Rolex watches, the iconic Submariner watch undoubtedly takes the spotlight, with Rolex also releasing multiple popular Submariner models in a series, directly heating up Rolex’s popularity in the upcoming resale market. However, this year’s release is not just a “solo performance” by the Submariner. Even without other popular models like the Daytona, GMT, etc., the Oyster Perpetual released this year is definitely another big surprise.

Unlike the popular models mentioned above, many watch fans refer to various styles of the Oyster Perpetual as “entry-level models.” However, personally, the term “entry-level” seems to diminish the status of this watch, considering it is already an iconic Rolex with nearly 100 years of history; therefore, I prefer to call it a dress watch. This year, Rolex has taken the dress watch style of the Oyster Perpetual to the extreme, offering five different dial color options at the same time, not only allowing watch fans who enjoy matching outfits to have more choices, but also considering the color tones for both male and female wearers.

This year, Rolex has introduced two models in 41mm and 36mm sizes, both equipped with the new 3230 movement – not just a marketing gimmick, but actually featuring a new movement. This puts it on par with this year’s no-date Submariner, even Rolex officials couldn’t help but praise it as a display of the brand’s sincerity – it’s clear that calling it an “entry-level model” might be a bit disrespectful, right? First, the 36mm model comes in five different dial designs: Candy Pink, Turquoise Blue, Coral Red, Yellow, and Green. The saturation and delicacy of the enamel dials under the sapphire crystal are just right.

Although pink is more favored by ladies, the Tuiqoise color that appeared this year, with the blessing of the 36mm ladies’ exclusive size, I believe it can attract the attention of many ladies.

As for the 41mm style, although the dial colors only offer silver and black options, do not underestimate the intricacy of both. The silver dial style, Rolex uses a sunray finish on the dial, and adds 18ct yellow gold to the luminous hands and markers, making the quality and sense of layering on the dial immediately prominent; the other style also features a sunray finish dial, switching to black for a slightly more understated look, but the hands and markers are still made with 18ct precious metal, although Rolex has chosen platinum to match the black dial.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the new Oyster Perpetual is equipped with the so-called “three-piece link” Oyster bracelet, and Rolex has also added their own developed Easylink extension link to the bracelet, allowing the wearer to easily extend the bracelet by up to about 5 millimeters, enhancing the flexibility of the traditional Oyster bracelet. This time, Rolex has also designed an Easylink extension link for the Oyster Perpetual series for the first time. Whether you are a seasoned watch enthusiast or a newcomer who has only recently started, always remember that Rolex is not just about popular styles. There is definitely a reason why it has stood in the watch industry for many years and is deeply loved by different watch enthusiasts. This year’s Oyster Perpetual is the best example.
