Renowned American hip-hop artist and music producer Kendrick Lamar has been wearing a diamond-encrusted “crown of thorns” every time he appears in public since the release of his new album “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” last month, from the Glastonbury music festival to the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2023 menswear show, sparking discussions in the trendy music scene recently.
In fact, this diamond-encrusted “Crown of Thorns” is not only eye-catching but also has a prestigious background. Designed and crafted by Tiffany & Co., it was inspired by the legendary jewelry designer Jean Schlumberger’s creation of the Thorn brooch in 1947 (left image). The crown is set with over 8,000 diamonds of various sizes, totaling over 137 carats, and took 10 months to make. There are more than 50 thorns on the crown, including straight, thick, thin, and those inspired by rose stems, showcasing the unique form of thorns.
