Have you ever thought that the scent of the mysterious night could be transformed into a bottle of perfume? Following the release of three “Vanille Antique” Night Veils fragrances in the middle of last year, this autumn sees the launch of the second chapter in the series, featuring the fifth fragrance: Rouge Chaotique. It is also the brand’s first agarwood perfume, bringing to life our imagination of the world of the night!
Since 2016, Byredo has been releasing the Night Veils series, which now includes Casablanca Lily, Reine de Nuit, Sellier Tobacco Mandarin, and Vanille Antique, continuing to write a more captivating Night Veils series! This year, Rouge Chaotique joins as the first incense fragrance in the entire series, inspired by Ben Gorham’s personal creative concept. He believes that accepting the chaos and sparks that arise during the creative process can lead to unexpected results. With the revelations brought by darkness, scattered thoughts are written in different words, images, and fragments of poetry, decisively recorded.

Byredo Creative Director and Founder Ben Gorham shares, “I always feel that the night is intriguing, it is another world with endless possibilities, and it is also another side of myself, adding a layer of dusk to the dual nature. Whether it is plants that bloom at night or nocturnal animals, nature is full of species that are active in the dark. How can we isolate ourselves from them? The night brings me different emotions, different thoughts. It implies a different kind of life. I want to offer a new ritual for the night, proclaiming the arrival of darkness and ringing the bell to welcome life under the twilight.”
As a new member of the Night Veils evening ritual series, Rouge Chaotique embodies the rich and layered fragrance of the original series. Extracted from the world’s most precious ingredients, in the top notes, precious saffron intertwines with full-bodied blackcurrant and refreshing bergamot, creating a spicy leather scent. The fragrance is filled with a culinary aroma, blending the smooth syrupy texture of plum with the baked sweetness of praline, emitting an irresistible temptation and giving a sweet impact.
