ZTYLEZ ART SPACE is the first physical art space of the fashion art website ZTYLEZ, and in November, it will present the opening exhibition “Lust for life” in collaboration with local illustrator Isaac Spellman. The exhibition is divided into two parts, including murals created by the artist in collaboration with this space, and 15 paintings revolving around fashion, love, pop culture, and the desire for life.
Exhibition PART 1 – Giant Wall
Exhibition Dates: November 28, 2021 – February 28, 2022
A hand-painted exterior wall that is up to 15 meters long and 5.8 meters high, with a design concept inspired by the 2013 film “The Great Gatsby,” depicting 1920s New York, giving people a sense of the extravagant and glamorous life. Throughout the painting, you can see shadows of that era, including guests in glamorous evening gowns sipping champagne; lovers waltzing; women hailing taxis; gentlemen riding white horses; and even tigers lounging on buildings, portraying exaggerated scenes.
Isaac himself has a special fondness for retro aesthetics, and his creative style is deeply influenced by the retro-futurism that emerged in the 1980s. This style refers to the imitation of early futuristic design styles in contemporary art, combining retro styles with futuristic styles that have a technological feel. It often reflects early artists’ visions of the future, much like a parallel time and space in reality.
Exhibition PART 2 – “Lust for life”
Exhibition dates: November 27, 2021 – January 2, 2022
“Lust for life” is Isaac’s first solo exhibition, showcasing his selected works from the past, all of which reflect the artist’s pursuit and desire for different aspects of life, from love to fashion to spirituality, aligning perfectly with the spirit behind the murals.
Artists’ ideas about the future are diverse, incorporating their own preferences for popular culture, using digital drawing techniques to create works that include the retro fashion aesthetics of the 20s to the 80s. Many current popular elements can be seen, including Lady Gaga’s poster style in “The House of Gucci”; Harry Styles’ relaxed scene in the music video “Watermelon Sugar”; Lana Del Rey’s perfume ad, Isaac resonates with the audience by using popular items. When retro and pop intersect, they create a unique illustration style.
On the opening day, Isaac, also known as the “Witcher,” specially arranged a tarot session for fashionistas and art enthusiasts. Feel free to experience the atmosphere of that day through the video.
