Former Super Girls member Aka C (Chiu Wai Shan), graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a degree in Graphic Design. She loves creating and has recently devoted more time to pen and ink drawing. She often shares her artwork on Instagram to express her thoughts. Her solo art exhibition “Wonders Phantasm” will be held at the Harbour City Art Gallery this January. Through intricate brushstrokes and neat composition, she leads the audience into an imaginative world.
Aka C excels in pen and ink creations, which differ from traditional painting methods. Because the pen tip is delicate, measuring only 0.03 millimeters, she needs to meticulously draw on the canvas, using the brushstrokes to convey different layers and shadows, bringing out the tension in her works. Throughout the process of painting, she requires a high level of concentration and unparalleled patience to outline every detail.
This art exhibition takes the relationship between humans and animals as its theme. Aka C hopes to use the animals and spirits in the paintings to provoke reflection on the boundaries of reality, and to explore the infinite possibilities of human imagination and philosophy. In each artwork, you can find different kinds of animals, including seahorses, swans, whales, sloths, owls, and more. Each piece holds a story within it.
