The Chinese University of Hong Kong celebrates its 60th anniversary with a special event called “CUHK 60th Anniversary Miniature Art Exhibition,” transforming iconic landmarks and important symbols on campus into miniature artworks.
Among the 50 works, 3 of them are themed around the main campus of the University, commonly known as “Rice Cooker”, the Science Museum, and the main entrance. Among them, “Main Entrance of CUHK” showcases the appearance of the entrance, including the engraved school name on the gate stone and the emblem known as the “Four Pillars”. In front of the gate, there is also a micro-carving of the late President Ko Khun set up by his widow, Ko Wong Mei-yun, as well as a nostalgic model of a school bus from the 1990s handmade by artist Chan Hung-fai. We hope that everyone can appreciate the contributions of “Father of Fiber Optics” Ko Khun and relive the good old days.
Another notable work is the “Million Avenue” miniature artwork, which recreates the opening ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the university earlier this year. It vividly showcases the miniature sculptures of the cheerleading performance on stage and the guests in the audience, creating a celebratory atmosphere.
