SC Gallery brings you a collaborative exhibition that is both fun and very “Hong Kong”. It is called “Street Market Revolving”. Visual artists Du Haiquan and Li Huixian invite everyone to examine the local flavors of Hong Kong’s street markets and old villages. Du Haiquan grew up in the Wah Fu Estate in Hong Kong, a community built in the 1960s. It not only nurtured his growth, but also served as inspiration for his artistic creations. The artist uses paintings to document grassroots life in Hong Kong, disappearing old street markets, and the appearance of old villages.

This collaboration also deeply touched Li Huixian. It turns out that she has never had the habit of buying groceries and cooking. She laughed and said that she used to rely on takeout for all three meals a day. However, during the epidemic period, due to various social restrictions, she couldn’t avoid cooking for herself. The feeling of going to the market for the first time was like a “whirlwind”. From being a woman who never cooked to now discovering new interests at the market, all these little things have become the theme and inspiration for Li Huixian’s exhibition this time.

The exhibition showcases Chung Daifu’s latest rock color masterpieces, including the Homage to Van Gogh series, the Tattoo series, and the Water Dance Nature series. Rock color is inherently hard and insoluble, and can only create rich layers of color by repeatedly stacking mineral-colored particles. However, Chung Daifu subtly challenges the properties of mineral pigments, using rock color to present the gentle and flowing petals and leaves, the ripples on the lake caused by the gentle breeze, and the texture, lines, and light and shadow of the human body, adding a touch of tenderness to the vibrant rock colors.
