Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN’s first exhibition in Hong Kong! Paying tribute to photography masters Wing Shya and Daido Moriyama!

「Cityscape Resolution – Hong Kong by YOSHIROTTEN」

YOSHIROTTEN is a contemporary graphic design master in Japan, having collaborated with brands such as Mercedes Benz, ACE HOTEL, G-Shock, Head Porter Plus, and Uniqlo in the past. He is known for creating a distinctive style through minimalist geometric patterns and futuristic symbols. In addition to graphic design, he also explores cross-media creation and large-scale installations.

Recently, the local art space The Shophouse presents YOSHIROTTEN’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, “Cityscape Resolution – Hong Kong,” where the artist leads the audience to appreciate the beauty of the city from a different perspective by transforming the resolution of images.

This immersive exhibition is divided into 3 parts, including solo exhibitions by artists, collaborative works with Hong Kong photographer Wing Shya, and the “NEW SHINJUKU” series reshaping the famous Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama.

YOSHIROTTEN exhibited his printed and video works in the solo exhibition. The artist reimagines urban landscapes, creating collage works of different resolutions, presenting images that are consistently futuristic and abstract. These images are printed on aluminum panels with a mirrored surface, revealing the core fragments of the city through the reflective qualities.

In Wing Shya’s work, people wander through the bewildering city, each seemingly carrying inexpressible emotional secrets, swaying images that stir the viewer’s emotions. Wing Shya’s images are all filled with delicate emotions, and YOSHIROTTEN focuses on capturing objects through derivative creation, hoping to reveal the human emotions hidden in urban images.

In the works of Japan’s most renowned photographer Daido Moriyama, the shaking, blurriness, and out-of-focus style under his lens depict the darkness and unfamiliarity of the city. YOSHIROTTEN reshapes his “NEW SHINJUKU” series, transforming it into square monochrome images, leading the audience into a parallel universe of reality and fantasy.

Curious about how this young designer reshapes the works of two photography masters with a unique style, showcasing the charm and beauty of the city? Don’t miss his first exhibition in Hong Kong!
