Seeing this uniquely designed, futuristic silver circular building standing in the bustling city center, do you feel like you’re in a sci-fi movie? In fact, this is the “Museum of the Future” built by Dubai at a cost of about one billion Hong Kong dollars, aiming to explore future technology and help enhance social development. Although this building has not yet been officially completed, it has already been recognized by National Geographic magazine as one of the 14 most beautiful museums in the world. Construction began in 2015 and the official announcement was recently made that the museum will officially open on February 22nd, making people around the world eagerly anticipate it!
The Future Museum, designed by architect Shaun Killa, is primarily composed of three design elements: the green hills, the elliptical structure, and the hollow building. The green hills represent the resilient earth, the futuristic upper structure represents humanity, filled with determination, artistic talent, and creativity, living in harmony with the environment. The most distinctive feature, the hollow part, symbolizes innovation and embodies Dubai’s vision for the future.
The mysterious characters that adorn the building are essential to its eye-catching appeal. The metal exterior of the building is engraved with Arabic calligraphy, which are actually verses written by the Dubai ruler expressing his earnest hopes for Dubai and bestowing good wishes upon the museum. These characters are etched on translucent glass, allowing natural light to illuminate the space and create beautiful light and shadow images. At night, the 14-kilometer-long LED lights will illuminate the museum, adding to its enchanting feel.
Each floor of the museum is designed as a vast movie set, combining elements of exhibitions, immersive theaters, and themed attractions, inviting audiences to innovate beyond the present, envision possibilities, and focus on exploring themes including space travel, future life, climate change, ecology, health, and more.
“The Future Museum” not only attracts with its appearance, but also provides everyone with a forward-looking technological perspective, hoping that the museum will not only become a miracle in the architectural world, but also a new base for nurturing the next generation to create technological wonders!
