A futuristic and beautiful cultural landmark! The Taipei Pop Music Center will open next month!

Taipei has a uniquely shaped building that looks like a strange “spaceship” and also like a gem, mysterious and somewhat futuristic! This distinctive building is actually the brand new cultural and arts landmark – Taipei Pop Music Center! It is set to open early next month, and I believe everyone is very much looking forward to it!

Located between Nangang Station and Kunyang Station on the Blue Line of the Taipei MRT, the Taipei Pop Music Center, designed by the American architectural firm RUR Architecture, creates a huge indoor space that can accommodate up to 6,000 people, providing ample space for a variety of performances. The architectural design is inspired by ancient Roman squares, and the music center adopts a composite park design, divided into south and north bases, connected by sky bridges.

The North Base, which looks like a spaceship, is a medium-sized performance hall with a total of 8 floors above and below ground. It is mainly designed for pop music performances, and its irregular lines resemble undulating peaks, creating a unique exterior profile.

The music center in this circular space is dominated by gold tones, making it very eye-catching from afar. Paired with 7 dark glass curtains, it can play a role in lighting, making the overall space more transparent and bright. When the lights come on at night, the music center will emit a dazzling light, like a colorful and charming gemstone!

As for the South Base, its exterior design is a 7-story cubic building with unique corrugated walls, while the inside is a popular music culture museum curated in a thematic exhibition format. In order to cultivate music talent, the South Base also has an industrial area shaped like a crystal, constructed with a metal curtain wall mesh and a roof covered in glass mosaic. Inside, there are classrooms, music performance spaces, recording studios, practice rooms, etc., all well-equipped.

Outside the industrial area, there is also an outdoor square that can accommodate 3,000 people, which can be used for performances and creative markets. It can be seen that the music center is truly a diverse cultural and artistic space!
