In addition to producing high-quality watches, many watch brands actively participate in supporting activities such as art, sports, and conservation. Rolex has been committed to collaborating with outstanding artists and leading cultural institutions around the world for half a century, and recently held the “Rolex Arts Weekend – Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative” event in Athens.
The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative provides opportunities for emerging artists to engage with masters in their respective fields, enhancing their confidence and uncovering and showcasing their creative potential. The initiative covers music, architecture, film, and the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative, serving as a testament to the brand’s longstanding commitment to global culture.
This festival was organized by Emma Gladstone OBE, former artistic programmer and independent arts consultant at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London, and former artistic director and executive director of Dance Umbrella. The festival featured over 30 exciting performances and activities in theaters, galleries, and public spaces throughout the city of Athens for a week. The program covered various fields including dance, theater, music, film, architecture, visual arts, and literature, providing opportunities for Greek artists, experts, and young people to learn and exchange ideas.
The Rolex Arts Initiative Sponsorship Program has been running for twenty years, providing valuable opportunities for young artistic talents to engage in one-on-one exchanges with legendary masters in their respective fields. Since the program’s inception, 1,350 young artists from 120 countries and regions have been nominated to participate. To date, 63 artists have served as mentors, selecting 63 students from 41 countries and regions. The winners of previous Arts Initiative Sponsorship Programs have been invited to showcase their work in this event, and the ticket proceeds will be used to support the artistic projects of collaborating institutions and provide affordable tickets for the public to enjoy.
