Focus on overlooked female film workers! The Hong Kong Arts Centre showcases multiple works by female photographers on the big screen.

「持攝影機的女人:女性電影攝影師作品」

In the traditional sense, cinematography has been seen as a male profession, involving technical skills and physical labor that were traditionally considered unsuitable for women. However, with the changing times, more and more women have broken through this stereotype and established their position in the field by capturing various types of films. To appreciate their efforts, the Hong Kong Arts Centre, in collaboration with multiple partners, will present works by female cinematographers from around the world and invite photographers and directors to participate in post-screening discussions and share their experiences.

There are also many women involved in different creative positions in Hong Kong film production. The Hong Kong Arts Centre hopes that this program can encourage more women to join the film industry, so that audiences can also understand the challenges faced by women and men in the industry, as well as the skills and mindset required, allowing everyone to enjoy the results of film creation and appreciation together.

“In the Name of the Nameless”

This time, a total of 9 works have been selected for re-release, including: “Wrong Education” (Belgium), “13 Minutes” (Germany), “In the Name of the Unknown” (Belgium), “The Jester’s Childishness” (Germany), “Our Children” (Switzerland), “#WomenBattleWomen” (Switzerland), “Surprise Safety Zone” (Austria), “To the Present Me” (France), “Portrait of a Girl in Flames” (France).
