Fashion and art are inseparable. In recent years, in addition to many fashion brands incorporating elements of art into their seasonal designs or fashion show venues, they have also collaborated with artists from different fields to release art books or photography works, recording fashion in another way. Recently, LOEWE has released a deluxe book by the famous American artist Joe Brainard, “A Show in a Book”.
In the 2021 autumn/winter collection, LOEWE used Joe Brainard’s work as a design inspiration, releasing new designs with the concept of Show in a Book, even using a book as an invitation to the LOEWE fashion show.
In LOEWE’s knit sweaters, leather coats, and loose trousers this season, it is not difficult to find Joe Brainard’s signature collage style, as well as colorful elements and printed patterns, even his poetry and the Whippet dog under the artist’s pen have become the design theme of LOEWE.
Fashion enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating it, and LOEWE recently released this 200-page hardcover book “A Show in a Book”, allowing everyone to explore the brand’s new season of fashion inspiration and gain a deeper understanding of this American artist.
“A Show in a Book” edited and designed by M/M (Paris), features a unique cover created using a large folding cloth. It includes important works from Joe Brainard’s artistic career, such as his iconic 1967 color collage “Untitled (Bow)”. The book also contains related magazines, comics, printed materials, as well as an introduction by poet Ron Padgett and an article by art critic Éric Troncy.
“A Show in a Book” is currently available on Printed Matter, so fashion enthusiasts or art lovers may want to visit the website.
