The LOEWE Cultural Foundation brings the photography works of the late French artist Hervé Guibert to participate in PHotoESPAÑA (Spain’s International Photography and Visual Arts Festival) for the ninth time. Although Hervé Guibert passed away at a young age, his works have endured. During his lifetime, he loved using artistic creation to raise awareness of important moral issues such as freedom and justice in society. Therefore, exhibiting his works at this time seems particularly meaningful in a society and world where freedom is gradually being eroded.
Hervé Guibert has long been interested in the art of photography, integrating his delicate writing style into the lens to express his thoughts, desires, and emotions through images. The exhibition features 50 works including “Autoportrait,” “Balthus and his wife,” “L’ami,” and “Thierry in Palermo,” mostly presented in black and white, with beautifully composed images that express the essence of self-awareness in the face of life and death. It also highlights Hervé Guibert’s awakening of social justice through life, hoping that viewers will pay attention to the current world’s “freedom” issues.
Hervé Guibert’s photography exhibition will be held at the LOEWE flagship store on Gran Vía 8 in Madrid from June 5 to August 30.
