Reopening with a new look! 45R Hoshimachi flagship store has been renovated to create a shopping space full of artistic flair!

by

45R has been collaborating with Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto and Japanese architect Toru Sakakida since 2017 to establish the “New Material Research Institute” as a subsidiary store for renovation design. This time, the Hoshimachi flagship store has reappeared with a brand new look, creating a comfortable and peaceful shopping space for customers.

The new renovation is designed with the concept of “alleyway”, featuring a simple yet retro style. The store serves as a meeting point for communication between people and culture. The designer hopes that the interior design can tell a story, so outdoor elements of the Star Street flagship store are brought inside, giving the store a feeling of “extending” the street and attracting more customers to come in for a visit.

In order to present a combination of Chinese and Japanese culture with a mix of old and new styles, the architectural team deliberately sourced materials from different origins. For example, the antique stones on the floor are from Qingdao, while the walls are coated with a copper dye material commonly used in Japan in the 1990s, giving the entire space a nostalgic retro feel and creating a sense of indoor-outdoor blending. The tables displaying the products also have unique details, with very delicate colors and textures, further enhancing the personality of the brand’s products.

Walking up a staircase made of British clay, you arrive at the second floor with a different interior design style. You feel as if you have stepped into a Japanese temple, experiencing the intentions deliberately integrated by the architectural team. In addition to feeling the peaceful atmosphere, you can also experience the design philosophy of Japanese culture and brands.
