In recent years, The Mills in Tsuen Wan has become a popular spot for many art enthusiasts. You can spend an afternoon in a coffee shop, explore various lifestyle boutique stores, and now, there is another reason to visit – The Mills has been decorated with unique Christmas decorations, all made from recycled materials, creating a “green” Christmas!
Many large shopping malls and stores use sparkling lights to attract everyone’s attention to their Christmas trees, but the giant blue floating Christmas tree at Nan Fung Textiles brings a different feeling. This “eco-friendly” Christmas tree was created by Nan Fung Textiles in collaboration with local artist Orange Terry, using recycled denim fabric to create a upgraded version, with blue denim as the main tone and red denim as decoration, simulating the moment when confetti explodes like a burst of color, hanging in mid-air, it has a unique artistic beauty.
Orange Terry spent a year creating this eco-friendly Christmas tree, starting with recycled denim fabric from different cloth vendors, then going through a process of cleaning and disinfection before being cut and designed. Due to the varying colors, textures, and conditions of each piece of fabric, each “leaf” of this Christmas tree is unique and full of thought.
It is worth mentioning that, in addition to using old items as materials, after the suspended Christmas tree is displayed this holiday season, the recycled denim will be cleaned and disinfected again, and then used as materials in workshops, truly embodying the concept of “sustainability” in environmental protection.
In addition to the eco-friendly Christmas tree, various corners of Nan Fung Textile Factory are also adorned with holiday decorations made from different fabrics. Why not take advantage of the holiday season to visit Nan Fung Textile Factory and search for their traces!
